{spring day visits}

Picture from Google Images

i was working in our whats-to-soon-be-a-garden this morning when i had a little visitor. at first i didn't notice but soon she was trotting at eye level across one of my curls. she was no larger than the tip of my pinkie and a brilliant shade of red with lovely black dots. nearly perfectly round.

we started talking about the weather. she agreed that these warm sunny days have been such a delight. we smiled at the prospect of more days like this one. and then she asked me what i was doing.

i told her of my garden plans and how i have been praying and praying that this little thumb of mine might be a brilliant green. or at least a nice shade of olive. my heart longs for a lush green garden.

she chuckled at me. and then she offered to make my humble garden boxes her new home. i wasn't sure if i should accept such an offer but she assured me that i should. she told me she could help. she also told me that she comes from a large family and she was sure they would also love to make the move with her. now how could i resist?

so we made a deal. and hopefully soon an entire family of ladybugs will be cheerfully roosting in our backyard.

i hear they make great pets.

I'm so glad a ladybug came to chat with you this morning! I've had several as friends for a long time and they're truly lovely garden companions.

Lady bugs are GREAT! I buy them by the bag full when my roses bloom cause they eat aphids! Keeps the roses healthy and they are pretty good company! :)
