we played in the snow

yesterday morning we woke up to this lovely sight.

the boys wanted to go out and play something awful but instead they were stuck inside with their boring sick mom.

they were very disappointed.

this morning we woke up to this.

snow, snow and more snow. oh look, half of our fence is missing. and where is that road?

after an abudance of this...

{what we in the broomall home refer to as pleading}

we began the process of bundling up. which if you haven't had the pleasure of doing, is a process that takes nearly as long as the playing outside part. but it's worth it. oh so worth it. and garrett was even willing to help out.

we finally got out there and it did not disappoint. the snow was piled high and wet. perfect for snowman building. gage took off on a ride with uncle jamison while garrett and i started playing. he hasn't really played in the snow much that he would remember so i think this was especially wonderful for him. he had this surprised look on his face about eighty percent of the time.

like my hat? i crocheted it this morning {thank you mom for the rescue phone call}. initially it was intended for matt. we picked out the colors a few weeks ago, but once the hat was half done he decided it looked too girly. so it became mine. i guess i'll have to find some manly colors now.

matt, gage and i built a snowman while garrett wandered around the perimeters of the house where the snow was much lower. a few times he got brave and attempted the tall stuff, which warranted several rescue missions, one lost boot and a few stuck mittens. that didn't slow him down one bit though.

gage took his rock searching duties very seriously and found us some wonderful eye and mouth pieces. he was especially thrilled once the bushy arms were stuck on. he was ready to move on to making the baby snowmen, as he called them. but we wrangled them inside to warm up instead.

this is how he felt about that plan.

we are all warm and toasty now. the boys are snoozing away, matt made a post office run for me and a nice hot shower is calling my name.
