In need of an upgrade!

Well Gage is just months from turning 2 and is still in his crib! Needless to say with a baby on the way, he really needs to move on to a "big boy bed". I know he will love this idea, but I'm chicken! I have all these worries...what if he wakes up in the middle of the night, gets out of bed and gets lost and freaks out? What if he gets scared and can't find us? I think I would be more of a wreck than he would the first night! ha ha Anyways...I don't want to go the toddler bed route...I would rather just jump in there and get him a regular twin size bed. Is this crazy of me? And also, I have been on the hunt for a bed for the past month or two but haven't really settled. We are going to be in the valley this weekend and I have Matt's word that we will do some more looking down there! Yay! So....do any of you know of good places to go for this type of thing? So far this is my favorite bed and dresser (in oak though)...it is however Broyhill and I'm NOT crazy about the price so I'm holding out for something that I like this much that isn't going to cost us a small fortune! I am open for any suggestions! I want to get his bedroom done before my belly gets HUGE!

I would say check The Roomstore. I believe they have childrens bedroom sets. There is a store by PV mall called USA Baby, I believe they also have "big kid" sets too. That is where we bought Danika's crib. Hope that helps!

Good luck shopping. I always have a hard time finding something that I like when I already know what I want. But it is really cute and I am sure if you looked hard enough you can find it. I hope everything is going well with your pregnancy!

hey! i put addie straight to a big girl bed and its great. it took about a week or so for her to get used to the idea. worth it and very much support the idea of skipping the little bed. there is a store on Guadalupe i want to say, and the freeway. its called American Home. its HUGE and they have some kid beds. lots of options and great prices. good luck!

I say check craigslist.org, they have stuff for great prices (although it is second hand) never the less, my friend finds great deals all the time and ALL of her stuff looks brand new and NICE TOO! This is just my piddly advice but once you decide to do it go ALL the way with it. It was sooooooo hard that I almost put him BACK in his crib! Like anything else, it will take a week or so to get used to. The hardest part for me was to keep him in his room, the doctor told me to close his door and he will cry (of course) but will learn and it won't harm him anyway. I think he is fine and a year and a half later I have NO problems with him staying in his bed. Also, I think you are SMART for changing him before the baby comes, I did it that way because one way or another you are going to have to teach them, and I would rather have it done before you are tired with an infant! Good luck though, I hope whatever you do it works out for you:)!

IKEA! Cheap and cute! It took about two nights for Cash to 1) stay in the bed when I put him in there and 2) not fall off. It only took once. But I guarantee you that little man can find you in the dark. Cash can make his way to our bedroom in the pitch black with out even tripping!
