the stitch itch

i have had an itching to sew. kind of like falling into poison ivy and rolling around in it, which really i've never done but i would have to imagine it's nearly the same irritating feeling. {feel free to disagree with me.}

it's especially flustering because i have no sewing machine right now. my "new" baby blue never made it to the doctor. so here he sits just waiting to be used after, oh, i would imagine at least a decade. the machine itself is from the 60's and judging by how i had to use pliers and a good amount of brute force to get the old broken needle out, i'm thinking it sat unused for quite some time.

sad, i know.

here's a look at my my favorite of the projects i finished before officially killing my machine. my boys' quilts.

gage has an intense love of airplanes. i mean, really really, he loves airplanes. he can spot out the tiniest little speck in the sky and what do you know, it's an airplane. so this is what he ended up with. just stripes but i love it. i incorporated scraps from the front piece into the back. i am please with how it turned out.

garrett's quilt was not going to be this one. it was going to be the one with the green color scheme that i showed you a few weeks ago. but we all know what happened there. okay, so maybe we don't. let's just say that it involved a seam ripper and someone who wasn't paying attention to the seam. so in the meantime this was his replacement quilt. which i actually love in part and despite of the simplicity of it.

i have lots of projects i want to tackle. it's eating me. the doctor wont be in town for a few weeks which makes me frown.

i guess until then i will just keep on itching.

Anyway I have my moms old hand me down sewing machine I guess the reason it still works for me is cause hmmm I never use it! But every time you post about sewing or show one of your beautiful quilts I get that itch! So thanks you have now given me the itch today!

I LOVE THE QUILTS! I WAS GOING TO GO ATTEMPT A CLOTH JOURNAL COVER TODAY--WE'LL SEE HOW THAT GOES. SOMETIMES JOURNALS, FABRIC, AND WHATNOTS END UP GETTING CHUCKED ACROSS THE ROOM. MAYBE TODAY WILL BE BETTER!

Ashley, you got Grandma's sewing gene that completely skipped my generation! If you really get into prodcution, I bet you could sell a lot of those on hazel.jayne--they are gorgeous!

You got some skills girl! I still need to learn how to sew. My mom just got a sewing machine from a friend and gave it to me. I found out online that it's from the 1950's which is pretty awesome. I just need to figure out how to use it!
